Congratulations on successfully finishing another year at Eastridge High School! A limited number of IB courses have summer assignments, which are listed by course and year below. These assignments are designed to help you prepare for the rigors of an IB course. They are all due after the 1st week of school so that you will be able to get help from your teacher prior to handing them in. Students are strongly encouraged to work through these assignments diligently over the summer. Please feel free to contact me at (585) 339-1547 or via email at candace_black@eastiron.monroe.edu should you have any questions. Please note, the list below is only for IB courses, not AP or any other courses.

Assignment
IB English 11
Read To Kill a Mockingbird using the attached sheet of information
(Note: The book is provided by the school and therefore the student doesn't need to purchase the book unless he/she wishes to be able to write in it. Students were requested to pick up a copy of the book from Mrs. O'Grady prior to the end of school. Students who still need a book may contact either the Counseling department or Ms. Black to arrange to pick up a copy this summer.)
IB History 11
Using the attached information sheet, select a biography of a US president and read it. It must be a book, either in print or electronic form, of at least 200 pages (or approximately 100,000 words). In essay form (introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion) provide five detailed reasons why you rate your president as either great, near great, average or below average.
Hello all, I hope all of you are enjoying your summer! I wanted to introduce the IB Biology course you have enrolled in for next year and give you some summer work that will be due at the completion of the first full week of school. First, the course is two years long and is equivalent to an introductory college level course. While I do not assign much homework the assignments that are given are extremely important, and even more important they are completed on time. Most of these assignments will be larger ones and will be fully explained in class. I am usually lenient when it comes to test and quiz dates and take into consideration the work load that you have at the current moment. I hope that as a collaborative group we are able to work through the curriculum and provide each other with an enriching and fun learning environment. Second, the summer assignment is attached here. Please complete the assignment in that same word document. If you would either change the font or color of the typed text it will make it much easier for me to grade. This assignment is meant to be a review of Living Environment. That course is a great introductory course to IB Biology. We will be going in much more depth to all content that is covered in LE. With that said, it is very important you understand the basics before we start with new material. For any of the drawing questions please do so on a separate sheet of paper, take a picture and insert it into the word document. The only thing that will be handed in will be the attached word document. Please read the directions and if you have any questions feel free to email me here. I will periodically check this. I can't promise I will respond immediately. But you will be given ample time to complete the assignment after I respond. Lastly, I am missing two of your classmates emails: Robert Salisbury and Sofia Agurto-Munding. If you could please forward this on to them and include me in the email so I can add them to my group email list, I would really appreciate that. I look forward to hearing from you and a great two years! See you in September! Mr. Foster
